Privacy Policy

TumuBook collects the following privacy information:
- Email address and name that you provide
- Authentication identifiers, email addresses, and names obtained through external authentication services (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In). Names may only be provided at the initial authentication.
- Your children's names and birthdates
- Service usage data (reading records, favorite books, notes, etc.)
- In-app activity history (usage data such as screens viewed, taps and scrolling)
- Your device's language setting, region setting, and time zone
- Automatically collected information (IP address, cookies, browser information, etc.)

About your children's information:
- You may register your child's name using a nickname
- Birthdates are used to calculate your child's age at the time of reading
- Your children's information is managed under the parent's account; this Service is not intended for direct use by children

About the camera:
- The camera is used solely to scan book barcodes. Captured images are never stored or transmitted.

Notes on Apple Sign-In:
- If you use Apple's Private Email Relay, TumuBook will receive and store a relay email address in the format @privaterelay.appleid.com. Notification emails will be delivered to you through Apple's relay service.

TumuBook collects privacy information through the following methods:
- Information you enter during account registration
- Information provided to TumuBook by external authentication providers (Apple, Google) with your consent during authentication
- Information automatically collected during service use (analytics tools, cookies, etc.)
- Activity logs recorded automatically while you use the app (screens viewed, taps, etc.)

We use the collected privacy information for the following purposes:
- Service provision and operation
- User authentication and account management
- Responding to customer inquiries
- Service improvement and new feature development
- Usage analysis
- Showing library and bookshop search links based on your region (country) and your device's time zone (both are determined at country level)
- Providing book recommendations based on your child's reading records, favorites, age, and parent requests. This includes AI automatically analysing the kinds of books your child has read in order to choose books (profiling).
- Developing, improving, and evaluating the recommendation feature and recommendation algorithms (including use of the collected information after it has been anonymized or aggregated)

As a rule, we do not provide your privacy information to third parties. The following are exceptions:
- When required by law
- With your consent

Information exchange for authentication:
- When you use external authentication services (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In), authentication information is exchanged with these services during the authentication process. Please also review the privacy policies of these services:

We currently use the following external services:
- Google Analytics (website access analysis; no analytics tools are embedded in the app)
- Google Sign-In (authentication)
- Apple Sign-In (authentication)
- Sentry (fault detection and investigation. When a fault occurs, the account identifier and IP address are sent along with the details of the fault)

Handling of information for the book recommendation feature:
- To generate book recommendations, we may transmit your child's reading records, favorites, age, name (a nickname may be used), parent request text, and similar information to external AI services (including providers located overseas) and entrust the processing to them. Such information is processed by these AI services solely for the purpose of generating recommendations.
- This processing may involve the transfer of personal information overseas (including outside your country of residence).

We implement appropriate security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of your privacy information.

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your privacy information.
If you have such requests, please contact us through the contact information below.

Please note that even after your account is deleted, we may retain and use anonymized information that cannot identify any specific individual for statistical analysis and algorithm development purposes, in order to improve and evaluate the book recommendation feature.
