Where Our Book Data Comes From

This page discloses where TumuBook obtains the bibliographic data it displays in the app and on this website (title, author, publisher, publication year, description and similar fields), and the cover images shown alongside it.
Naming a source here does not indicate a partnership with, or an endorsement by, that company.

TumuBook obtains bibliographic data and cover images from several external book databases.
The bibliographic data comes for the most part from a commercial book database we license under paid terms. For books published in Japan, we also use records from NDL Search.
The source named below is the one whose licence asks to be credited.

TumuBook uses the NDL Search API provided by the National Diet Library of Japan.
The records we obtain are the ones whose data provider is the National Diet Library itself (its own collection catalogue, the Japanese National Bibliography, and its newly catalogued records).
We obtain those records both directly from the Library's own API and, in some cases, through a third-party API that redistributes them.

Those bibliographic records are provided by the National Diet Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0).

Rights in a cover image belong to the publisher of that edition and to the other rights holders in the artwork.
